Rector Search

Altar on Daffodil Sunday 2025The search process for a new rector of Holy Trinity Church, Tiverton, Rhode Island began in September of 2024 under the guidance of the Vestry. The diocese was contacted and discussed the process. The first item on the agenda was a Parish History Meeting which took place after the 10am service on Sunday, September 29 under the guidance of Canon Dena. Subsequently, a Prayer Team, Profile Team, Communication Team, and Search Committee were established. The next goal was to gather information for the Profile Committee. The congregation was invited to a Parish Profile Session on November 3. This was also under the guidance of Canon Dena. The committees completed their work in time for Palm Sunday where a formal announcement was made:

A Word from our Senior Warden, Alec Grande

I am pleased to announce that K Casenhiser has accepted our call to become the Deacon in charge/Rector of Holy Trinity Church. Rev. K started their position at HTEC following their graduation from Yale University, where they received a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and Master of Environmental Science (MESc) in 2025. They see the Trinity as a community of love, which shapes their identity and practice of faith. In their life and work at Holy Trinity and the wider community, they seek to empower people to express the love, justice, and compassion of Christ already at work in their place for this time. They are interested in how the Church can serve as a refuge and site of resilience in times of tumult and climate disaster, and a sanctuary of welcome for all people in the ordinary days in between.

When not working, K enjoys cooking with friends, reading, singing, baking sourdough, making pickles, hiking, gardening, and participating in their community's artistic life.

Before arriving at HTEC, K served as a lay assistant at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Providence for the past two years.

I want to give a huge thanks to the search committee for a job well done. I also extend my appreciation to Sam Hester for his dedication and hard work as chair of the search committee.

After ordination, Rev K was welcomed into the Holy Trinity Church Family, and they began their ministry:

Dear Holy Trinity,
I pray you are well, and I look forward to being with you soon!
In anticipation of this transition, there are a few important announcements to share. First, beginning this weekend, June 14th, the 5 pm Saturday night service will be held as Evening  Prayer, and the 8 am Sunday morning service (June 15th) will be held as Morning Prayer. For the next six months, the Eucharist will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Sunday service. I recognize that the Eucharist is dear to you, as it is to me. Please trust the vestry and I are collaborating closely with the diocese to ensure it will be available every week during this transitional period.
You may have questions about what the next six months will look like as I serve as Deacon-in-Charge/Rector until my priestly ordination in November, and that's a good thing! I welcome your
questions and encourage you to come to me as they arise. To encourage this, there will be an informal frequently asked questions (FAQ) gathering after coffee hour on my first Sunday,
June 15th, and the following Sunday, June 22nd. Please bring any questions you may have or ideas you would like to share about the ministry at Holy Trinity. We will also send out a note in next week's newsletter.
In Peace,
K
