Holy Trinity's 2026 Stewardship Campaign: Open Our Hearts

Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, 106)

Dear  friends,

In our life of faith, we are called to the perennial, grace-filled practice of opening our hearts to God. Inspired by this invocation in the Collect for Purity  and the posture of the Sursum Corda to “lift us our hearts,” the title of our Stewardship Campaign this year is “Open Our Hearts.”

When hearts are sincerely open, that posture shapes how you live and what you prioritize. Part of caring for our home means preparing our hearts to face our financial reality honestly. Currently, Holy Trinity is drawing 20–25% of the Total Revenues from its modest endowment to balance our budget. My friends, this rate is not sustainable. The Episcopal Church Foundation recommends a maximum annual draw of 5%. Our current investment strategy puts the future at risk. Your collective investment is essential if we are to experience the future we’ve courageously dared to imagine with God.

By any measure, your commitment reflects an open heart. We have seen a noticeable increase in our attendance, a deepened commitment to our neighbors, and expanded our welcome to new parishioners. In preparation for 2026, we are envisioning ways to revitalize linchpin ministries, like lay Eucharistic visitors, the altar guild, choir, acolytes, small groups, and pastoral care teams.

The most important principle for giving is to give generously, joyfully, and faithfully. While there are many ways to give, I commend proportional giving: committing 10 % of your after-tax income to God's work. For me, this meant setting up automatic giving to Holy Trinity as a reminder that what I am given belongs first to God.

In a season set apart for thanksgiving, it is time for a family meeting to reflect on those gifts for which we are grateful and to attend to the financial well-being of the home we cherish at Holy Trinity. We have exciting dreams—rebuilding our music program, launching small groups, offering caregiver support, and cultivating an ever-diverse community. If we want to see these dreams realized in our home, we need to invest in them.

How will your giving reflect your heart this year? Thank you for your faith in Holy Trinity, expressed through your investment in our shared life and your prayers for our future as a parish. I have made my pledge to our 2026 campaign because I believe in what God is dreaming through our open hearts. Will you join me in opening your heart to support this faith-filled yes to God?

Please prayerfully consider your commitment and return your pledge card by Sunday, December 7th, or make your pledge online at holytrinitychurch.org/stewardship/giving/.  It will be my great privilege to receive and bless your gifts on our ingathering Sunday, my first Holy Eucharist serving as your priest.

With faith,

The Rev. K Casenhiser and the Vestry of Holy Trinity

Frequently Asked Questions

What is pledging?

Pledging is the act of declaring a specific financial commitment to Holy Trinity over a specific period of time (for the annual pledge campaign, one year’s time). It is a spiritual discipline, rooted in scripture, of prayerfully considering what portion of the resources with which each of us has been so blessed we will share back with the church over the course of that period.

What is the pledge campaign at Holy Trinity?

The pledge campaign at Holy Trinity takes place each fall and is the annual parish-wide Initiative of considering and declaring our individual financial commitments to Holy Trinity for the coming year. On the basis of these commitments, our church leadership is able to plan its budget for that coming year.

What do pledged dollars pay for at Holy Trinity?

Your pledge dollars, broadly speaking, pay for all the things that collectively comprise our “life” as a parish each year: the costs associated with our robust calendar of worship, educational offerings for children and adults, social gatherings for our parish community, and our ministry to those beyond our parish walls. From heat and electricity to the music of our choir and choral scholars each week to the security and buildings teams who keep Holy Trinity a safe and welcoming space, your pledge dollars make the life we share together as a parish possible.

Why does pledging matter?

The importance of pledging is twofold: First, pledging is a spiritual discipline of prayerful generosity that our faith tradition calls on us to engage in; it is a practice that is a fundamental aspect of our shared life as a parish. Second, pledging is important because it is the means by which our church leadership knows what financial resources it has to plan for the coming year programmatically and operationally.

How much should I give to the pledge campaign at  Holy Trinity?

The spiritual practice of giving to the church is grounded in the tithe, emphasizing concepts of proportional giving and giving back to God and the church as a priority. 10% is the standard, but some begin with 5%, or even 1%,  if 10% feels out of reach to start.

We encourage you to pledge an amount that is significant in your charitable budget and prioritizes Holy Trinity. A pledge should be in an amount that is personally meaningful to you.

Can I give without pledging?

Yes. Holy Trinity is always grateful for the generosity and support of all its members and visitors in whatever way it is given. We encourage and place particular emphasis on pledged giving because of its rooting in our spiritual tradition and well as the important fiscal planning that it facilitates.
